📖 The Cheap Wardrobe Story...
Amit bought a beautiful-looking wardrobe online during a sale for just ₹8,000. A year later, during the rainy season, the bottom got wet, and the base swelled up like a sponge! The doors started sagging.
The problem? That wardrobe was made of "Particle Board" — which is basically a mixture of sawdust and glue. The moment it touches water, it's destroyed. Don't just look at the exterior, look at the material!

Types of Wood — A Simple Guide
| Material | What is it? | Durability | Usage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solid Wood (Teak, Sheesham) | Real tree wood | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Generations) | Beds, dining tables, heavy furniture |
| Plywood | Thin layers of wood glued together | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Very strong) | Kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, custom furniture |
| MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) | Pressed wood fibers | ⭐⭐ (Damaged by water) | Paneling, decorative items, profile doors |
| Particle Board (Engineered) | Sawdust and glue | ⭐ (Enemy of moisture) | Cheap readymade furniture, good for renters |
💡 The Rule for Buying Plywood in India:
For the kitchen and bathroom, ALWAYS buy BWP (Boiling Water Proof - 710 grade) plywood. For bedroom/living room furniture, use BWR (Boiling Water Resistant) or MR (Moisture Resistant) ply. Commercial plywood is cheap but easily falls prey to termites!
