📖 The "Sink-In" Trap...
Raghav went to a furniture showroom and sat on a sofa. It was so soft that he sank right into it. He bought it immediately. Two hours later, sitting on that same sofa at home, his back started hurting when he tried to get up.
Super soft sofas feel great in a showroom, but for daily sitting, they become a torture device after 30 minutes!

Anatomy of a Good Sofa
- 🪵 Frame: Should always be solid hardwood (Teak, Oak, or at least Pine/Neem). A particle board frame will break in 2 years.
- 🧽 Cushion Foam (Density): Seat cushions should have a minimum of 32D to 40D (Density) foam. Lower density = the sofa will flatten quickly.
- 🕸️ Suspension: High-quality sofas use "8-way hand-tied springs" or sinuous (zig-zag) springs. Sofas with only nylon webbing sag quickly.
Sofa Size and Proportions
📐 Perfect Sitting Formula:
• Seat Depth: 21 to 24 inches (if you are tall, choose 24 inches).
• Seat Height: 17 to 18 inches from the floor (knees should be at 90 degrees).
• Backrest: Should reach your shoulders (for lounging), or your neck (for watching TV).

💡 The Visual Weight Trick:
If your living room is small, choose sofas where the legs are visible (Leggy sofa). When you can see the floor under the sofa, the room looks larger. If the room is large, choose chunky, skirted sofas that go all the way to the floor.
