This is the design of the 1950s and 60s, known as "Mid-Century Modern" (MCM). This design was so perfect that 70 years later, it is still the best-selling style worldwide (and in India too!).

1. Mid-Century Modern (MCM)
After World War II, designers abandoned heavy and ornate furniture and created clean, functional, and ergonomic pieces.
- 🪵 Signature: Teak and Walnut colored wood. Furniture legs are slanted outwards (splayed legs).
- 🎨 Color Palette: Mustard yellow, teal blue, olive green, and terracotta.
- 📐 Shapes: A mix of geometric lines with organic curves.
- 🌟 Vibe: Retro-cool, sophisticated, and timeless. (Great for Indian flats because the furniture is raised off the floor, making spaces look larger).
2. Bohemian (Boho)
The exact opposite of Mid-Century rules! Boho style means: "No rules!" It is the style of free spirits, travelers, and art lovers. It is wildly popular in India because it perfectly complements our handicrafts.
- 🧶 King of Texture: Macrame wall hangings, jute rugs, rattan/cane furniture, LOTS of plants!
- 🎨 Color Palette: Earthy tones — rust, deep green, mustard, and jewel tones (deep red/blue).
- 🛋️ Furniture: Low-seating (close to the floor), throw cushions, vintage furniture. Everything looks like it was gathered from bazaars around the world.
- 🌿 Vibe: Extremely relaxed, cozy, artistic, and comfortable.

Designers today are blending these two! The Base: Mid-Century furniture (clean lines, woodwork). The Decor: Boho textures (lots of cushions, a vintage rug, plants, and macrame). This combination gives the furniture structure, and the boho decor gives it warmth and personality. Try it in your home!
