📖 The Wrong Budget Allocation...
Vineet set a budget of ₹2 lakh for his living room. He bought an imported Italian marble coffee table (₹1 lakh) and a cheap sofa (₹20,000).
The result? The table was beautiful, but the sofa sagged in the middle within 6 months, and his back started aching. He invested in a showpiece and compromised on his comfort!

Where to SPLURGE:
Things that physically touch your body daily, or things that are very difficult to replace:
- 🛋️ Main Sofa: Good wood frame, high-density foam (40D+), and good fabric. (Lifespan: 10-15 years)
- 🛏️ Mattress: You spend a third of your life here. Get a mattress that supports your spine.
- 🚰 Plumbing and Fixtures: Concealed pipes and faucets. If cheap concealed faucets break, you have to break the wall!
- 💡 Good Chairs (WFH / Dining): No compromise on ergonomics.
Where to SAVE:
Things whose primary job is just to look pretty:
- ☕ Coffee Table / Side Table: It doesn't support your body. A ₹2,000 wooden table or an IKEA table will do the job perfectly well.
- 🖼️ Artwork and Decor: You don't need original paintings worth lakhs. Frame good quality prints (IKEA/Amazon) — they will look expensive!
- 🪞 Mirrors: A mirror's job is to reflect; you can spray paint a cheap frame yourself.
- 💡 Accent Lights (Lamps): It's just a bulb inside. The exterior design can be cheap, just ensure you use a good 'Warm LED' bulb inside!
💡 The Touch Test:
If you touch it, sit on it, or sleep on it daily — it is an Investment. If you only look at it — it is Decor; save your money there!
